Work and Employability (1001EHR)

This course provides students with content related to organisations, people and employability and offers practical skills focusing on the development of employable skills whilst providing foundation knowledge of Employment Relations for their transition to and participation in the world of work. The course covers contemporary workplace issues from the employers and the employees perspective. Topics include, the changing nature of work and the contemporary workplace; managing people in organisations; developing employability skills, including professional values and social networking; workplace planning, recruitment and selection; training and talent development; performance in organisations; rewards and motivation; negotiation and communication and ethics in the workplace, in addition to the development of professional skills and awareness, industry knowledge and workplace readiness. Industry engagement will be a core strategy with video vignettes, guest speakers and case studies.
