The term 'communication' covers a vast array of human (and non-human) activities, which can be usefully explored from a variety of perspectives. 1003LHS introduces students to communication through the lens of linguistics, in a very broad sense. Topics include animal communication; how culture, gender and technology impact human communication; whether the language we speak influences our thinking, and non-verbal communication, all with an emphasis on real-life applications.
