This IPS course is designed to facilitate, guide and stimulate your interest and commitment to an increased understanding of what constitutes effective communication. It is a skills-based course, constructed to assist you to develop necessary communication skills to maintain personal and professional interactions. Using an active learning approach, 1008HSV teaches you communication theory, as well as affords opportunities to apply practically to solidify learning. In preparation for your role as professionals in the field, you will be encouraged in this course to think of yourselves as practitioners-in-training. One of the implications of this, is that we expect you to be self-managing in terms of your own learning and the learning of your colleagues. The skills acquired will subsequently serve as a scaffold for more advanced skills as you progress through your degree.
