The course introduces structural concepts to architect students. The behaviour of structures will be covered to give the future architect an overall understanding of structural engineering. Fundamental structural mechanics concepts and structural design principles will be covered in some detail. Topics taught include equilibrium, internal forces, stress, structural elements and systems, design loads, load transfer, buildings... The course is taught as a series of weekly lectures and tutorials, supported by laboratory experiments.
