This course is designed to teach the basic concepts of Cognitive Psychology covering topics such as attention, memory, language, and thinking. Familiarity with a diverse range of experimental methods and techniques is required to understand the research findings in these areas, and to critically evaluate theoretical explanations. Research findings and theoretical explanations will be presented in lectures. Laboratory experiments and demonstrations will complement the lectures by providing direct experience with some experimental techniques. Prerequisites: 1001PSY Introduction to Psychology 1 AND (1003PSY Research Methods and Statistics in Psychology OR 2000PSY Experimental Design and Analysis) Co-requisites: Nil Incompatible: Nil
