The aim of this course is to define health within a biopsychosocial framework and present the current issues in the area, providing students with an introduction to key areas of Health Psychology. The course will situate Health Psychology as a specialisation within psychology and will develop students' understanding of the biopsychosocial factors involved in health promotion and maintenance, illness prevention and treatment, and improving healthcare systems and health policy. The course will have a focus on Health Psychology in an Australian context and will develop students' understanding of the key theoretical, research, and methodological approaches applied to the discipline of Health Psychology. PREREQUISITES: 1002PSY Introduction to Psychology 2 AND 1003PSY Research Methods and Statistics in Psychology
