Urban Analysis and Planning Studio builds upon earlier studio courses in the degree, and will provide you with essential research methods and analytical techniques that planners use to understand the ecological, social, cultural, economic and political relationships that comprise the urban environment. Drawing upon diverse theories, the course will teach you to analyze cities from multiple perspectives e.g. historical, spatial, cultural, ecological etc. You will undertake extensive fieldwork to collect data for weekly course activities. Throughout the course you will be required to demonstrate your reading, critical thinking and analytical skills, and to reflect upon what you have read and learned, when writing activity reports. You will learn to reference impeccably and to communicate effectively. As this is a 20CP studio course, students should expect to spend twice as long on it as a standard, 10CP course.
