Wine Studies (2217THS)

This course provides an overview of the history and development of the Australian wine industry as well as the basic elements of viticulture, vinification and the sensory evaluation of, predominantly, Australian wines. Apart from theoretical concepts, a large range of wines is also evaluated. During the sensory evaluation component of this course students will be expected to taste several wines. While students are asked to spit out tasting samples there is always the possibility that residual traces of alcohol may remain in the mouth. As the prescribe alcohol level for P drivers in Queensland is 0%, it is highly recommended that particularly those students take this into account when considering transport home from sensory evaluation session. This course is offered: Gold Coast: Trimester 3 Day Note: This course has a prerequisite students must be 18+ to be eligible for enrolment in this course Incompatible: 1203HSL Wine Studies 1, AND 2217HSL Wine Studies.
