This course introduces the student to the practical applications of orthodontic and orthopaedic appliances. It also introduces students to the fundamentals of removable partial acrylic dentures. Students will extend on the foundation skills and knowledge gained in the Laboratory Practicum 1 and Laboratory Materials. This course gives students ample time and opportunity to develop and craft their skills in the manufacture/construction of thermoformed materials, acrylics and the application of metal componentry. Giving the student an opportunity to further develop their level of accuracy and speed using the skills gained in the Laboratory Practicum courses as well as apply knowledge gained in the Prosthetic Technology courses. Students will have an opportunity to begin work integrated learning activities within a commercial laboratory setting at the Griffith University Dental Clinic.
