Commerce Internship (3000AFE)

The course challenges high-achieving students to apply their knowledge and training in a real-world setting by offering them the opportunity to participate in different types of work integrated learning (WIL) activities in the various commerce disciplines or major (Accounting, Finance, Financial Planning, Economics, and Business Law). Available WIL activities may include external work placement (internships), university-based simulations, and professional engagement or development. Allocation of students to available WIL activities is at the discretion of the Course Convenor, taking into consideration the preference expressed by students. Students are supported by the Course Convenor, a WIL Coordinator and/or an Academic Supervisor, and an Industry Supervisor (if the WIL activities that students undertake take the form of an external work placement). Despite this support, students must maintain professional standards and take responsibility for their learning and development. Prerequisites: Completed a minimum 160 credit points (including 60 credit points of foundation courses in Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Business and at least 20 credit points of courses from Commerce majors. Students who meet these requirements will be then interviewed to determine selection into the course. Trimester 1 2021-- 3000AFE is for the Griffith University Tax Clinic Internship. students wishing to do an accounting, finance, financial planning or economics internship should enrol in 3001GBS.
