Climate Change Adaptation (3007ENV)

Climate change has been described as the key challenge facing societies in the 21st C. Adapting to the impacts of unavoidable climate change is critical to any effective climate change response. Together with societal efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (mitigation), adaptation is one of the essential pillars on which a comprehensive climate change strategy is built. Adapting to the diverse impacts of climate change will be a substantial ongoing challenge for all Australians well into the future. Meeting this challenge will require contributions from the whole of society: governments at all levels, businesses, communities and individuals. This course will clarify the roles and responsibilities for adapting to the impacts of climate change and identify priorities to position Australia to manage the impacts of climate change. Pre-requisite: Students must have successfully completed at least 80 credit points or have the written permission of the course convenor before enrolling in this course.
