Emerging Issues in Aquatic Ecology (3052ENV)

This course will introduce students to new and emerging concepts and methods in aquatic ecology. The specific topics covered may change from year to year, depending on the staff involved in presentation of material. Topics likely to be covered are new ideas about river restoration and rehabilitation, novel approaches to the conservation of freshwater biodiversity, conservation planning, molecular ecology and novel ways to understand food-webs in aquatic systems. Teaching methods will be by mini-lectures and workshop discussions of recent literature. Prerequisite: 3051ENV Aquatic Ecology OR 2304ENV Freshwater Ecology
