The purpose of this course is to encourage students to further enhance their international experience by including an internship, work experience or other projects during a study abroad period. This is the 20 credit point version of 3191LHS Language In-Country Independent Study. The course can be taken as part of a short-term study abroad program or in conjunction with an exchange program. Students will define the project in consultation with the course convenor and other academic staff from the students' program of study. The assessment is in the form of pre-departure tasks, an online reflective journal and an oral presentation, to be delivered on return in the language of the chosen country and/or in English, depending on the students' level of language proficiency. PREREQUISITES: Students must have completed appropriate language study (and achieved a minimum grade) to enrol in this course. The level of proficiency required may vary depending on the nature of the in-country experience and students' degree and/or language program requirements. Conditions apply: students may enrol only with permission of the course convenor. CO-REQUISITES: NIL INCOMPATIBLE: 3191LHS Language In-Country Independent Study.
