English in the Early Years of School (3235EDN)

This course is centered on providing students with experience in teaching within the early years of school (prep to year 3). It is framed around the Australian Curriculum English and consists of 15 days of classroom experience. It includes observation and monitoring of children, program planning and decision-making, and teaching and reflecting on practice with an emphasis on the teaching of language, literature and literacies and using the professional standards for teachers (AITSL). To be eligible to attend the Professional Experience component of this course and to complete the course students must demonstrate 80% Attendance and 100% Engagement (see 4.2 for conditions). All Professional Experience courses are designated courses for the purpose of exclusion; if you fail you are listed for exclusion from the program of studies. Pre-requisite: students must have successfully completed 1999EDN and 2999EDN (with an upper primary year level placement in 2999EDN) before enrolling in 3235EDN.
