Supporting young children's pro-social behaviour (3405EDN)

This course explores children's developing understanding of their place in the world and how to interact within it. Students investigate young children's developing awareness of their emotions and behaviours, the impact these have on others, and their participation in increasingly complex social interactions. Within pre-school settings students will observe a child, analyse their social interactions and with the support of teachers and parents, implement a plan to scaffold positive behaviour. Pre-requisites: Students must have successfully completed 1999EDN, 2999EDN, 3235EDN and 2024HSV prior to undertaking 3405EDN. Students must reach an 80% threshold for tutorial attendance and active participation in the lead up to placement for all Professional Experience courses. Students who cannot attend the full tutorial and thus cannot actively participate during the tutorial will not be able to proceed with the placement and complete the course. 3405EDN is a designated course in the Bachelor of Education program. Under Griffith University's Academic Standing, Progression and Exclusion Policy, a student may be eligible for exclusion on the basis of failure in this course.
