Industry Practice (3609QCA)

The portfolio is an essential item for all professional designers. It communicates to others the knowledge, skill and abilities of the designer. It is a record of completed design projects, it allows for an explanation of process, and it can also display work in progress. This course provides the necessary knowledge and practical skills in the planning, design and implementation of a professional portfolio. Topics covered include developing a professional digital representation of a student's skills and products (e.g. web page, digital résumé, etc.), as well as creating a physical portfolio, designed to complement their digital portfolio, and provide an overall professional presentation of their design work. In the process, existing project outcomes may be re-worked and it may be possible for new items to be created. Assessment is both progressive, including feedback from a supervisor with relevant professional experience, and summative in relation to the final portfolio outcome.
