Work Integrated Learning Placement (3900ESC)

This course is conducted primarily as individual placements, or small teams of students, within an industrial or research environment and emphasizes academic and vocational aspects of modern scientific practice. Students consolidate their technical knowledge by undertaking a project in a professional workplace (which may include a University lab) whilst simultaneously managing their learning and course assessment. Students work in close liaison with their industry supervisor throughout the project and are expected to demonstrate a good understanding of their project. The course also emphasizes that competence in management, business and social responsibilities are essential components in all fields within science professions and the key attributes of a contemporary industry or research environment. Students should be in the third or final year of study and must have completed the online registration form which can be followed by clicking on the red 'Access Learning@Griffith' link provided here: www.griffith.edu.au/griffith-sciences/partnerships/student. To be eligible for enrolment in this course, students must have completed all requirements of the WIL Office in preparation for placement, including allocation to an industry placement.
