Integrated Pharmacotherapeutics V provides an in-depth look at the pharmacist's role in the therapeutic management of special populations. Topics covered include geriatric, paediatric, and men's health conditions. This course draws on knowledge gained throughout all courses undertaken to date. The course adopts an integrated approach to learning, taking the student through the epidemiology, risk factors, clinical presentation, pathophysiology, clinical course, and therapeutic management of the disease, including a thorough understanding of the pharmacological basis of treatment and its relation to drug structure. Students are also introduced to research skills as part of this course. Lectures and problem-based clinical workshops serve to equip students with theoretical knowledge, an evidence-based approach, and practical clinical skills for the promotion of and contribution to optimal use of medicines, delivery of health information and provision of health education in relation to the therapeutic areas covered in the course. Prerequisites : 4018PHM Integrated Pharmacotherapeutics IV.
