This course aims to equip you with the skills needed to conduct quality engineering research and statistical analysis of data, in both industry and academic contexts. As an engineer you will be faced with problems that require you to devise innovative and practical solutions. Some problems may be simple and solved using standard techniques and methods. However, in most cases this will not be sufficient, and you will need to engage in research into the problem or topic to devise a solution. Being able to source valid and credible information, and analyse information and data statistically in order to formulate viable solutions is an important skill that all engineers need and which Engineers Australia expects you to have. The research and statistics skills you learn in this course will also help you throughout your studies at Griffith University. Research is a key component in Undergraduate degrees at Griffith University, being a vital part of successful industry projects. Moreover, the skills learnt in this course are of vital importance to students who intend to pursue higher degree research studies.
