Introduction to International Relations (7001GIR)

This course provides students with a broad introduction to the study of international relations. It examines the theory, history and relationships that inform our understanding of global politics. Throughout the course students will be introduced to a range of concepts, such as power, anarchy, order, justice, peace and diplomacy. They will also consider a series of case studies (World War II, Rwandan Genocide, Global Climate Change) that illustrate the importance and relevance of these concepts to the world we live in today. Students will have the opportunity to engage with classical and contemporary scholars of International Relations and to explore the different research methods they use to explain how the world operates.
