Conducted through seminars and lectures, this course considers contemporary visual arts in the context of a global cultural landscape. The course is designed to engage students directly with the histories, tensions and circumstances of global visual arts practice. An investigation of the nuances, sensitivities, protocols and complexities of specific practitioners, movements and events will enable the student to apply a sophisticated and critical knowledge to global contexts with an understanding of a diversity of perspectives. Students will also develop communication skills that reflect contextual awareness and responsiveness to rich and complex intercultural dynamics. It is recommended to complete 7040QCA prior to undertaking this course.
