This course will examine the wider social and cultural dimensions of suicidal behaviour by introducing the topics of voluntary assisted dying, and the laws and ethics surrounding the expression of suicidal behaviour in society. It will build upon the general suicide and suicide research content delivered in 7002CSR and 7004CSR (courses located in the Graduate Certificate in Suicidology, 3382 and Master of Suicidology, 5666). In particular 7007CSR will enable students to undertake a closer examination of the wider social, legal and cultural perspectives that surround suicide and suicidal behaviour. This course will be compulsory for all students enrolled in the Master of Suicidology program and will contribute to their overall understanding of suicide as a human phenomenon.
