This course prepares students to undertake quantitative research design and analysis of data. This course will be divided into two major sections: 1) methods for quantitative research and, 2) quantitative statistical techniques for analysing data. The course includes theory testing, causal inference, and designing research instruments. A range of statistical techniques and methods are introduced, using appropriate software tools. Topics in research methods include: Primary and Secondary Data Analysis, Sampling, Survey Design and Validation. Topics in quantitative techniques include: Descriptive and Inferential Statistics, and Single-equation Regression models with two and three variables, including estimation and inference. It also examines how regression is used and interpreted when data do not conform to some of its basic assumptions, such as normality or of errors. Prerequisites: NIL Co-requisites: NIL Incompatibles: 7002GBS Advanced Research Methodologies Online Mode: material will be provided week-by-week in accordance with the course schedule. Prior to enrolling in this course it is expected that you have nominated a supervisor for your dissertation and have discussed a topic of research with that Supervisor.
