Evaluating Policy and Measuring Performance (7024GIR)

In a dynamic and uncertain world, the role of government and public expectations thereof are in a state of constant flux. At the core of shifting democratic perceptions and processes is effective policy planning and delivery. By providing you with a range of approaches to evaluate programs and measure performance, this course will improve your awareness of the importance of tools such as cause analysis, gap analysis and impact assessment. It also engages with important theory on citizen engagement, democratic values and trust in public institutions. You'll be introduced to the challenges posed by delivering detail-oriented policy in an increasingly complex, multi-agency environment, in which a variety of key actors and interests compete for prominence. Building your skills in research, communication and critical analysis will ensure you're prepared to design, plan and conduct a program evaluation and engage in informed speculation about the shape and substance of high performance policy planning and practice in the future. Co-requisites: NIL Incompatible: 7024GIR AND 7208GIR (Delivering Policy, Performance, Participation, Prospects)
