Good policy is underpinned by quality research. This course aims to provide students with tools to evaluate existing research and undertake their own projects. Topics covered include: problem definition, selection and evaluation of research instruments and ethical issues and practices in research. The course will cover basic quantitative and qualitative approaches such as document analysis, interviewing, focus groups, case studies and surveys.
