Public policy making is inherently complex. Traditional approaches to policy analysis that focus on 'rational' decision-making models do not satisfactorily capture the dilemmas that confront contemporary policy-makers. This course develops an integrated design perspective drawn from the policy analysis, organisational studies and public administration literatures. Students are introduced to theoretical perspectives intended to equip them to develop analytical frameworks for conducting advanced policy analysis, analysis to inform implementation planning, organisational reform and other governance initiatives. This course will not be offered in 2017. Incompatible: 7031PPP New Directions in Policy Analysis.
