Social Work Field Placement 1 (7034HSV)

This initial field placement course provides the students undertaking the Master of Social Work degree with the opportunity to apply their university based learning to practice situations. Students are required to complete 500 hours (approximately 4 days per week for 17 weeks) on-site practice with a social work qualified field supervisor in a suitable human service organisation. The course will focus on facilitating students' development of the skills, knowledge, attitudes and analyses necessary to enter the field as a social work practitioner. Students must register for pre-placement by the end of Week 2, Trimester 1 to enrol in a Trimester 2 placement. Students must register for pre-placement by the end of Week 2, Trimester 2 to enrol in a Trimester 1 placement. Prerequisite: Preparation for Placement, 3039HSV Social Work OR 7060HSV Foundations of Social Work Practice, 7061HSV Social Work Theory for Practice NOTE : This course is a designated course for the purposes of exclusion - a student who fails 7034HSV may be excluded from the Master of Social Work program.
