Social Work Field Placement 2 (7044HSV)

This second field placement course provides the students undertaking the Master of Social Work with the opportunity to again apply their university based learning to practice situations. Students are required to complete 500 hours (approximately 4 days per week for 17 weeks) of practice based learning and engage in professional supervision with a social work qualified field supervisor. The program builds on the skills and understanding achieved during Field Placement 1. It is the final requirement of the degree program and focuses on facilitating students' development of the skills, knowledge, attitudes and analyses required to enter the field as a social work practitioner. Learning tasks assessed on a pass/fail basis. A strict requirement for this course is that students must undertake and complete pre-placement requirements in the trimester preceding the placement. Students must register for pre-placement by the end of Week 2, Trimester 1 to enrol in a Trimester 2 placement. Students must register for pre-placement by the end of Week 2, Trimester 2 to enrol in a Trimester 1 placement. Pre-requisites for 5730 students: 200CP of core courses Pre-requisites for 5621 students: 140CP of core and listed elective courses Co-requisite: 7063HSV Critical Reflective Practice in Social Work NOTE : This course is a designated course for the purposes of exclusion - a student who fails 7044HSV may be excluded from the Master of Social Work program.
