This course is the foundational compulsory course in the Master of Social Work/ Master of Mental Health Practice programs. All students must complete and pass this course in their first trimester of study to progress to placement and continue in the program. Foundations of Social Work Practice introduces the fundamentals of working in the human services including institutional structures and welfare discourses, theories, models, research and processes of human service delivery and methods of social work intervention: interpersonal helping, group work and community work. Restrictions: This course is restricted to students in the Master of Social Work/ Master of Mental Health Practice programs only. This course contains a compulsory intensive.
