Globalisation and Corporate Social Responsibility (7112IBA)

Business operations in Australia and around the world have become increasingly globalised over the past several decades. To create a worldwide marketplace, multinational corporations (MNCs), governments and non-government organisations have all played a major part in breaking down the barriers of international trade. Simultaneously, the transformation of the global economy has impacted people at every level, affecting the notions of community, citizenship and governance. To sustain social license across regions, new norms have emerged for business in areas such as ethical decision making, diversity, workplace culture, social responsibility, stakeholder management and sustainability. As a global businessperson, it's essential you have a grounding in the key social, political and economic impacts of globalisation and its implications for management practice here and abroad. As part of this course, you'll explore the key drivers and contradictions of global competitiveness and examine the ways in which social pressures and calls for accountability have influenced how MNCs and other organisations do business. Exploring historic and current business practices and concepts in collaboration with student peers, you'll resolve a range of authentic business problems using tools such as case studies, video analysis and group discussions. The newfound understanding of the complex system of interactions that make globalisation possible will ensure you'll be poised to take on international business opportunities and challenges of the 21st century.
