This postgraduate course in Application Systems delves into the analysis, integration, and design of socio-technical systems with a focus on user experience and contextual considerations in ICT domains. It covers advanced topics such as human activity systems analysis, ontological modelling, and specifying the organisational and external context of computing systems. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of application systems, their analysis, integration, and design, as well as the importance of user experience and contextual considerations in various ICT domains. The course also emphasises the evaluation and enhancement of user experience in application systems, ensuring that interfaces are intuitive, efficient, and user-friendly. Additionally, students will explore application contexts specifically linked to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) domains, considering factors like e-health, e-business, transport and logistics, agriculture, and e-government, and will be able to analyse and adapt application systems to meet the specific requirements and challenges of different ICT domains. This course was previously known as 7610ICT Introduction to Information Systems and is incompatible with 7610ICT Introduction to Information Systems.
