This course focuses on consolidating the knowledge, skills, and personal attributes required for supporting communication and/or swallowing in individual and communities across the lifespan. To develop skills in evidence-based speech pathology practice, you will attend a 32-day block placement in an external workplace, working within different service delivery models. You will work towards being ready to enter the profession, with increasing levels of independence, under the supervision of a speech pathology practice educator. Learning in this course is further supported by simulated learning experiences and clinically focused workshops. Competencies required for speech pathology practice are informed by the Professional Standards (Speech Pathology Australia, 2020) and assessed by COMPASS® (Speech Pathology Australia, 2011). Pre-requisite: 7725AHS, 7726AHS, Mandatory Placement Requirements. Co-requisite: 7728AHS.
