Sustainability and Systems Thinking (7920IBA)

Sustainable development challenges conventional business concepts: it requires a new way of thinking about management, strategy and economics. In this course, you will learn about sustainability, and you will also learn about key components of a sustainability mindset, including systems thinking. You'll learn about the paradigms through which we see the world, and how language impacts our views. When you complete this course, you will be able to recommend and justify some of the basic tools and strategies that can be applied to organizational sustainability governance, innovative thinking, adaptiveness, resilience and ethics. You will be able to apply your problem solving and critical thinking skills to finding new ways to make efficient use of natural resources in a drive for sustainability. This course will make you think differently about business and marketing and how your organisation can make sustainable practices a core value, which is vital for the future prosperity of our world. When taking this course, all students are expected to begin studies at the first designated session (face to face or online). Enrolment in this course is restricted to MBA, Graduate Certificate in Business Administration, Master of Supply Chain Management, Graduate Diploma of Supply Chain Management, Master of Environment, Master of Climate Change Adaptation and the Graduate Certificate in Aviation Management. However, students enrolled in other graduate degrees may be admitted to the course with the approval of the MBA Director.
