Reflections on Mental Health Nursing Practice (7978NRS)

This subject explores the discourses by which nurses critically question their interactions with colleagues, clients, and themselves, with texts, and with institutions. Asking oneself critical questions is an essential step towards self awareness. Self awareness is a key element in building therapeutic relationships with others and is therefore essential to the role of the mental health nurse. Critical reflection is a well-described method for analysing professional practice. In this subject students will maintain a reflective journal to analyse aspects of their clinical practice. Concurrently, the theoretical component will address specific areas of nursing practice.
