This subject introduces students to the law relating to financial products, financial markets, lending and other finance related activities of Australian banks and other financial institutions in the private sector. Topics covered include the Australian financial system; the relationship between lender and borrower; the statutory regulation of credit; loans to differing forms of business organisations; consumer credit - including Consumer Credit Code, EFT Code of Conduct, payment system and mechanisms, Managed Investment Schemes: real and personal property and the law and enforcement of securities and consequent remedies through the courts/tribunals as well as alternative dispute resolution methods.
