Human Services Research (2002HSV)

This course examines the two most common methods of inquiry in research - qualitative and quantitative. Topics include theoretical paradigms (emic and etic), research questions, literature reviews, research design, sampling, data collection and analysis, reliability and validity, and ethics in research. At the completion of this course, students will be able to understand the research process, critically analyse the methodology of published research, and design their own research proposal with a methodology that is appropriate for their hypothesis/research question.
