UG Business Internship I (3001GBS)

This is a multi-stream course available to all Griffith Business School students from a range of disciplines. The course is designed to facilitate a successful transition from academic life to employment by providing opportunities to apply what you have learnt at university to a workplace setting. A second but equally important feature of this course is the focus on raising awareness of your own personal attributes and the professional skills that are needed to not only gain and sustain employment and build a successful career, but also to contribute to individuals, communities and organisations across all sectors in ways that produce prosperous, equitable and sustainable futures. You will participate in a task, activity or project-based internship in a face-to-face, virtual/online or blended mode. While all internship experiences afford opportunities to develop and enhance your employability skills, virtual/online experiences open up possibilities to work with small and medium enterprises, business, government and community organisations in locations outside of South-East Queensland (e.g., regional and remote areas of Australia and other capital cities). Participation and enrolment in the course is NOT automatic and is dependent upon successfully completing an application process, meeting all pre-requisites and requirements, and attending and passing a formal interview with the WIL Director(s) and/or Course Convenor. Matching of students to host organisations and projects/activities is made at the discretion of the WIL Director(s) and/or Course Convenor. Students need to register their interest to participate in this course in a preceding trimester, allowing a sufficient amount of time to prepare and process the course application. Please refer to the Griffith Business School Work Integrated Learning (WIL) website for registration dates or contact your Program Director for more information. The prerequisite for this course is that all prospective interns must have completed half of their degree program at the time of enrolment. For AFE students, prerequisites include 60CP foundation courses of Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Business and at least 20CP of courses from Commerce majors. Additional multi-stream or discipline specific information is included throughout this course profile. Before commencing an internship, all students must be officially enrolled in the course as part of their Griffith degree program. This course is not available for credit based on prior studies or external activities. Prerequisite: At the time of enrolment, prospective Interns must have completed half of their degree program. Co-requisites: NIL. Incompatible: NIL.
