Civil Procedure (5210LAW)

This course examines the processes involved in the resolution of civil disputes in the context of our court systems. Following a consideration of the differences between, and the interrelationship of, substantive and procedural law and the theoretical foundations of our procedural system, students will closely examine the various steps involved in a civil matter. The emphasis of the course will be on the operation of the Uniform Civil Procedure Rules 1999 (Qld). Consideration will also be given to Federal procedure. Prerequisites: 1029LAW Contracts 1 OR 1014LAW Contracts and Civil Obligations 1; 1030LAW Contracts 2 OR 1015LAW Contracts and Civil Obligations 2; 2021LAW Torts 1 OR 2013LAW Introduction to Torts; 2022LAW Torts 2 OR 3003LAW Negligence and Accident Compensation. Incompatible: 4021LAW Civil Procedure. THIS COURSE IS ONLY OPEN TO LAW STUDENTS.
