How to apply

Admission requirements

The University's Admission Policy will apply.

This program is quota managed as there are a limited number of places available to ensure that sufficient resources are available to support the students. Meeting the admission requirements for this program may not result in an applicant receiving an admission offer.

Prior OP students: Applicants who graduated with an OP in or before 2019 can apply to Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) for an ATAR statement. For more information visit qcaa.qld.edu.au/senior/australian-tertiary-admission-rank-atar.

New Entry Requirements for 2026: Admission to the Bachelor of Midwifery is now determined by a sequential two-stage process, including the requirement to participate in an online interview.

Selection for admission to the Bachelor of Midwifery comprises two essential weighted components:

  1. ATAR or its equivalent (minimum threshold applies), and;
  2. Multiple Mini Interview (MMI).

All applicants will be required to undertake a Multiple Mini Interview. Applicants will be required to attend an online multi station interview in November 2025. The interviews will assess applicants' suitability based on the following factors:

  • Motivation to study and work in Midwifery;
    • Ethics, professional and non-judgemental behaviour;
    • Communication, interpersonal skills and empathy;
    • Problem solving, adaptability and teamwork.

    Once the minimum threshold ATAR is met MMIs will be assessed using objective criteria. Applicants will have an admission rank calculated from a combination of their weighted MMI score and academic ranking. Offers of places in the Bachelor of Midwifery program will then be made from the highest admission rank to the lowest until the available places have been allocated.

    Completion of all components may not result in an applicant receiving an admission offer.

    Note: Applications for 2026 entry close on the 31st October 2025.

Language requirements

English language requirements apply to International applicants and other applicants whose previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for such applicants for entry to these programs are described below.

Credit and recognition of prior learning

Griffith University awards credit for prior learning which may relate to prior formal learning or prior informal and non-formal learning. For more information see below.

Guaranteed Admission Scheme

This degree is excluded from the Guaranteed Admission Scheme.

Selection for admission to an undergraduate degree is made on the basis of academic merit.

Selection for admission is competitive as the number of applicants generally exceeds the places available. The minimum requirement for eligibility for admission is the completion of Year 12 of secondary school or equivalent academic achievement.

Prerequisites for admission may be specified in terms of levels of achievement in particular Year 12 subjects. Prerequisite conditions may be satisfied by other study or experience which is considered to be equivalent to the Year 12 prerequisites. More information is available on the Prerequisites and Assumed Knowledge website.
