Bachelor of Forensic Science/Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice

For Domestic and those International students not required to complete the English Language Enhancement course

For the award of Bachelor of Forensic Science/Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice (BCCJ/BForSc), you must successfully complete 350 credit points, made up of the core courses AND

• 100 credit points for the Forensic Chemistry major; AND
• 40 credit points for listed Criminology and Criminal Justice elective courses; AND
• 10 credit points of free-choice electives.

OR

• 100 credit points for the Forensic Molecular Biology major; AND
• 40 credit points for listed Criminology and Criminal Justice elective courses; AND
• 10 credit points of free-choice electives.

For International students required to complete the English Language Enhancement course

For the award of Bachelor of Forensic Science/Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice (BCCJ/BForSc), you must successfully complete 350 credit points, made up of the core courses AND

• 100 credit points for the Forensic Chemistry major; AND
• 40 credit points for listed Criminology and Criminal Justice elective courses.

OR

• 100 credit points for the Forensic Molecular Biology major; AND
• 40 credit points for listed Criminology and Criminal Justice elective courses.

Other program requirements

You are also required to successfully complete:

• all the requirements for first, second and third year in the degree structure for the Bachelor of Forensic Science/Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice before proceeding to the fourth year of the program
• the following required courses for the purposes of eligibility to continue in the program:
• 1008NSC Principles of Forensic Investigation and
• 2022NSC Forensic Laboratory Accreditation and Quality Systems and
• 2002ESC Forensic Chemistry or 2003ESC Forensic Biology.
• all activities and projects related to the Criminology and Criminal Justice coursework - some courses require practical activity reports for the purpose of assessment (these may include visits to a court, parliament and to various work sites associated with justice administration such as police stations and correctional institutions)

This degree may be awarded with Distinction where a student achieves a minimum program GPA of 6.5 with no failed courses. The words "This award was achieved with Distinction" will be recorded on the testamur.

All undergraduate International students are required to complete an English Language Enhancement Course unless specific criteria are met as specified in Section 5.0 Qualifications Procedure.

The following course must be completed in the first trimester of study:

• 5903LHS Language and Communication for Sciences

Advice regarding the requirement to complete the English Language Enhancement Course is available via the myGriffith portal (in the To Do List).

Students whose first language is English are not permitted to undertake this course.
