About this program

This degree will help you make your passion for the creative arts your purpose. The Bachelor of Creative Industries will empower you with the skills and knowledge to transform communities through innovative creative practices whilst developing an entrepreneurial mindset. You will take part in a series of Creative Collaboration Labs that will equip you with a knowledge of artistic trends, popular and artistic culture, and the cultural policy environment, and then apply this knowledge to practical projects with high profile industry partners. You will study a blend of creative arts and entrepreneurship core courses covering the practice and business of the creative arts, cross cultural practices and protocols, technical disruption in creative economies, and combine this with your choice of major from:

  • Digital Arts
  • Drama
  • Interactive Storytelling
  • Music and Sound
  • Photo Media
  • Screen Development and Curation (offered at South Bank)

Majors

Digital Arts
Digital art has revolutionised the way art can be made, distributed and viewed. Beyond virtual and augmented reality, you will learn to create mixed realityexperiences that combine virtual physical worlds, and truly push the boundaries of interactivity.

Drama
Through a collaborative and practical approach, you will explore the elements of vocal, movement and stagecraft skills and learn about contemporary theatre, theatre direction, as well as using drama for social action.

Interactive Storytelling
Develop your skills to write, create and publish, in a constantly changing industry. You will explore aspects of creative processes across genres including short fiction, poetry, experimental, and editing for publication.

Music and Sound
Sound plays a crucial role in creating an effect or mood on screen. In this major you will learn about the moving image and soundscape design, location recording and custom sound, across disciplines including film, television, theatre and live performance.

Photo Media
Through studio practice, master the techniques of digital and analogue photography. You will also develop visual storytelling skills through understanding of lighting, the moving image and other experimental techniques.

Screen Development and Curation
This major explores the impact of culture on screen events and production. You will learn script writing skills in a range of genres and consider the cultural contexts and business models behind how they are financed, realised, and shown to audiences.
