Bachelor of Laws (Honours)/Bachelor of Arts

For the award of Bachelor of Laws (Honours)/Bachelor of Arts [LLB (Hons)/BA], you must successfully complete 440 credit points, made up of the core courses AND

• 10 credit points of Arts foundation courses;
• 20 credit points of Arts First Year Electives
• 100 credit points of listed Law electives;
• one 60 credit point Arts major AND
• 30 credit points of free-choice electives

Note: You may only undertake a language major in which you are not a native speaker and you cannot complete two language majors.

Other program requirements

You must successfully complete:

• no more than 120 credit points of Level 1 courses (the first digit of a course code denotes the level);
• at least 60 credit points of Level 3 courses or higher.

Bachelor of Arts

This degree may be awarded with Distinction where a student achieves a minimum program GPA of 6.5 with no failed courses. The words "This award was achieved with Distinction" will be recorded on the testamur.

Bachelor of Laws (Honours)

Classification of Honours

This degree with Honours may be awarded in the following classes:

• Class I Honours
• Class IIA Honours
• Class IIB Honours
• Class III Honours

The class of Honours to be awarded to each student in this degree will be determined on the basis of the Grade Point Average (GPA) achieved by a student in all attempts at LAW core courses and listed Law electives as outlined in the Dissertation Management Procedure.

The nominated courses are as follows:

• 180 credit points of LAW core courses;
• 100 credit points of listed LAW elective courses.

Students achieving a GPA of less than 4.000 will be awarded an AQF Level 7 Bachelor of Laws.
