For the award of Bachelor of Forensic Science / Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice (BForSc/BCCJ), you must successfully complete 320 credit points, made up of :

Option A - Forensic Molecular Biology Major
  • 250 credit points for the Core Module
  • 60 credit points for the Major Module in Forensic Molecular Biology
  • 10 credit points for the Flexible Module
Option B - Forensic Chemistry Major
  • 250 credit points for the Core Module
  • 70 credit points for the Major Module in Forensic Chemistry
Other Program Requirements
  • No more than 120 credit points for courses at first year level (the first digit of a course code denotes the level).
  • All requirements for first, second, and third year in the degree structure must be completed before proceeding to the fourth year of the program.
  • Required courses for eligibility to continue in the program:
    • 1008NSC Principles of Forensic Investigation
    • 2022NSC Forensic Laboratory Accreditation and Quality Systems
    • 2002ESC Forensic Chemistry or 2003ESC Forensic Biology
  • All activities and projects related to the Criminology and Criminal Justice coursework, including practical activity reports (e.g.,visits to courts, parliament, police stations, and correctional institutions).

This degree may be awarded with Distinction where a student achieves a minimum program GPA of 6.5 with no failed courses. The words "This award was achieved with Distinction" will be recorded on the testamur.

Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level and Type

The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) is the national policy for regulated qualifications in Australian education and training. The Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice and the Bachelor of Forensic Science are accredited as an AQF Level 7 - Bachelor Degree.

English Language Enhancement

Domestic students enrolled in this program whose first language is not English may complete the following English Language Enhancement Course as an elective.

Students whose first language is English are not permitted to undertake this course.
