About this program

This program meets the knowledge requirements of becoming a registered Migration Agent in Australia. The Migration Agent Registration Authority (MARA) recognises Griffith University as a provider of the Graduate Certificate in Australian Migration Law and Practice. Applicants intending to register should also ensure they meet MARA requirements for registration.

This graduate certificate is open both to lawyers and to those without a legal background. As a currently registered migration agent wishing to complete the program, you should also note that it will provide credit towards Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements. The program may also offer credit to lawyers for CPD. You should check with the relevant law society in this regard.

Attendance information

Courses in Semester 1 and Semester 2 are offered in online mode only.

Students complete each course consecutively online for 4-5 weeks. Students intending to seek registration with MARA as a migration agent must attend invigilated examinations at the conclusion of the semester in order to be eligible for registration. Where students are located more than 150km from Griffith University campuses, arrangements will be made for examinations to be held in their closest capital city.

  • Semester 1 commences in January each year
  • Semester 2 commences in June each year
