To be eligible for the award of Master of Educational Studies (MEdSt), a student must acquire 160 credit points as prescribed below:

Standard pathway

  • gain 80 credit points for courses in Year 1 comprising:
    • 20 credit points for prescribed courses and
    • 40 credit points for a major and
    • 20 credit points for listed postgraduate Education elective courses;
  • gain 80 credit points for prescribed courses in Year 2 comprising:
    • 50 credit points for prescribed courses and
    • 30 credit points for listed postgraduate Education elective courses.

Dissertation pathway

Please note students must have achieved a GPA of at least 5 in their first year of study before progressing to Year 2 of the Dissertation pathyway. If students do not achieve a GPA of 5, they must complete Year 2 of the Standard pathway.

  • gain 80 credit points for courses in Year 1 comprising:
    • 20 credit points for prescribed courses and
    • 40 credit points for a major and
    • 20 credit points for listed postgraduate Education elective courses;
  • gain 80 credit points for prescribed courses in Year 2 comprising:
    • 40 credit points for prescribed courses and
    • 40 credit points for dissertation courses.

This degree may be awarded with Distinction where a student achieves a minimum program GPA of 6.5 with no failed courses. The words "This award was achieved with Distinction" will be recorded on the testamur.

The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) is the national policy for regulated qualifications in Australian education and training. This qualification is accredited as an AQF Level 9 - Masters Degree (Coursework).
