Trimester 1
The Diploma of Music is a pathway program designed to help you transition into the Bachelor of Music. You'll develop foundational knowledge and skills in a supportive learning environment, setting you up for success in your future studies.
Situated in Queensland's vibrant cultural precinct, the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University at South Bank is acoustically and architecturally unparalleled in Australia. Study with a community of like-minded peers as you learn from award-winning music educators and benefit from the Queensland Conservatorium's strong partnerships with local cultural institutions.
You'll study academic courses to develop a strong foundation in topics such as musical livelihoods and ways of listening and communicating musically, as well as courses focused on making music - whether that's creating, performing, or a mix of both. You will receive additional support and access to a dedicated First Year Coordinator and Peer-Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) run by high-achieving students.
The Diploma of Music is offered full-time on-campus at the South Bank campus.
In the Diploma of Music program, you must maintain a full-time study load. If you have reasons why you cannot maintain enrolment in at least 30 credit points per trimester, you must seek approval from the Program Director to take a reduced study load.
Taking a leave of absence from this program is permitted, subject to conditions outlined in the Enrolment Procedure and receiving approval from the Program Director or their nominee.
To be classed as a full-time student, you are required to enrol in a minimum number of credit points each standard study period. The minimum credit points for full-time enrolment in this program is 30 credit points.
Trimester 1 and Trimester 2 are deemed standard study periods. As Trimester 3 is a non-standard study period, continuing students moving from one year to the next will not be required to study during this trimester to be eligible for student income support.
Please refer to the Australian Government website for more details.
Gain the skills to transition from student to professional life. While in the supportive Conservatorium environment, you will have opportunities to refine your skills, focus and target your professional options and gain first-hand experience. You'll have a greater understanding of what's required to succeed in the entertainment industry, community arts and relevant ensembles.
Upon successful completion of this diploma, you'll be offered guaranteed entry into the second year of the Bachelor of Music (1419).
These fees are only applicable to domestic students who are not Commonwealth supported including:
