This program is not available to applicants who hold a qualification in Nursing acceptable for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).

Trimester 1 intake is available for:

• Standard program
• OR graduates of the Diploma of Health Care from Griffith College (Diploma of Health Care pathway)
• OR graduates of the Diploma of Nursing from an accredited Australian Education Provider with unconditional registration (without restrictions) as an Enrolled Nurse (Division 2), General with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Note that registration under the AHPRA Pandemic Response Sub Register is not accepted. (Diploma of Nursing pathway)
• OR an Internationally Qualified Nurse who provides documentary evidence with their application (Internationally Qualified Nurses pathway)

Internationally Qualified Nurses must demonstrate recency of practice (within a period of five years) and have unconditional registration where they are working as a Registered Nurse. Note: We follow Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) guidelines regarding recency of practice. Applicants must have a minimum of 450 hours accumulated over the past five years. The hours do not need to be continuous.

Note: Diploma of Health Care, Diploma of Nursing and Internationally Qualified Nurses applicants are not permitted to defer an offer. Should you be unable to accept an offer, you must re-apply for entry in the next available intake.

Standard program

Selection for admission to an undergraduate degree is made on the basis of academic merit.

Selection for admission is competitive as the number of applicants generally exceeds the places available. The minimum requirement for eligibility for admission is completion of Year 12 of secondary school or equivalent academic achievement.

Prerequisites for admission may be specified in terms of levels of achievement in particular Year 12 subjects. Prerequisite conditions may be satisfied by other study or experience which is considered to be equivalent to the Year 12 prerequisites. Advanced Standing Pathways

Diploma of Health Care pathway

Applicants with a completed Diploma of Health Care from Griffith College are eligible for the Diploma of Health Care pathway.

Recent graduates with a packaged offer can apply via Direct Admission.

Graduates without a packaged offer or who graduated more than 12 months prior must apply via the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) or Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) Bachelor of Nursing (Advanced Standing) admission pathway*. Applicants will be required to complete the Nursing Admission Questionnaire as an additional selection criteria.

Diploma of Nursing pathway

QTAC and UAC Applications for Trimester 1 2024 will open 1 August 2023 and close 31 October 2023.

QTAC Applications for Trimester 2 2024 will open 1 August and close 26 April 2024.

UAC Applications for Trimester 2 2024 will open in early April 2024 and close 26 April 2024.

Admission via the Bachelor of Nursing (Advanced Standing) pathway is competitive as the number of applicants generally exceeds the places available. Diploma of Nursing applicants may be required to complete the Nursing Admission Questionnaire as an additional selection criteria when total applications exceed the number of places available in the program.

Important offer advice: Should you receive an offer into this program you will be required to enrol into classes* within a short timeframe. This information will be included in your Starting@Griffith email and expressed in the number of days from the day of issue of your email. For QTAC applicants this is in line with the offer response date in your offer email, however Griffith accepts close of business that day - 5pm (AEST). Please note that the number of days can vary depending on when the offer was made. This requirement applies to all applicants irrespective of how you applied and/or whether you accepted conditionally or unconditionally. If you do not enrol* into at least one class for your program by 5pm on the response day your offer will lapse. Lapsed offers are not automatically reinstated and are subject to available places.

*Enrolling into classes means that you are advising when you are attending class/es. Enrolment must be submitted

Guaranteed Admission Scheme

The Guaranteed Admission Scheme does not apply to this degree.

Applicants who hold registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) as an Enrolled Nurse and who have completed a Diploma in Nursing from an accredited Australian Education Provider meet the English language requirements.

English language requirements apply to applicants whose previous studies were completed in a country other than Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom or the United States of America or undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for such applicants for entry to this program are as follows:

• Successful completion of at least six years of primary and secondary education taught and assessed solely in English. At least two years of this education must have been between Grades 7 and 12. This education must have been taught and assessed in English and completed in one of the following countries: Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom, United States of America.
• OR a minimum overall band score of 7.0 on IELTS (Academic) with no sub-score of less than 7.0
• OR the Occupational English Test (OET) with a minimum score of B in each of the four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking)
• OR an overall score of 65 in the Pearson Test of English (Academic) with no score less than 65
• OR an internet-based (iBT) TOEFL minimum total score of 94 and the following minimum scores in each section of the test:
• 24 for listening | 24 for reading | 27 for writing | 23 for speaking.

We will accept English language test scores from one test sitting OR a maximum of two test sittings in a six month period only if the following criteria are met:

• IELTS (Academic): A minimum overall score of 7.0 is achieved in each sitting and the applicant achieves a minimum of 7.0 in each component across the two sittings and no score in any component of the test is below 6.5
• OET: The applicant is tested in all four components in each sitting and a minimum score of B in each component is achieved across the two sittings and no score in any component of the test is below C
• PTE (Academic): A minimum overall score of 65 is achieved in each sitting and the applicant achieves a minimum of 65 in each of the communicative skills across the two sittings and no score in any component of the test is below 58
• TOEFL: A minimum total score of 94 is achieved in each sitting and the applicant achieves a minimum score of 24 for listening, 24 for reading, 27 for writing and 23 for speaking across the two sittings and no score in any of the sections is below:
• 20 for listening | 19 for reading | 24 for writing | 20 for speaking.

English test results must be no more than two years old.

The Direct Entry Program (DEP) pathway is not accepted for this program.
