You will be prepared to work as a paramedic in a range of traditional and non-traditional settings. You will gain clinical decision-making, problem-solving and critical thinking skills, and will learn about human body systems, paramedic practice, the management of conditions, disease states and trauma.
You will also develop strong practical skills through clinical simulation delivered through Griffith's extensive range of simulation facilities and will complete a range of clinical placements to enhance your professional practice.
Honours is available through an additional year of study.

Progression is dependent upon satisfying admission requirements.
The Bachelor of Paramedicine is a three-year degree offered full-time on-campus. Intensive teaching periods and online course content will be available. As a full-time student, you will generally attend 15-20 hours of scheduled classes per week throughout the trimester.
The Bachelor of Paramedicine is delivered over three trimesters in Years 1 and 2; Trimester 1 and Trimester 2 only in Year 3; and students will be able to graduate at the end of Year 3.
If you are an International student on a student visa, you must ensure that you enrol in a way that will allow you to complete your enrolment within the expected program duration as stated on your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).
Taking a leave of absence from this program is permitted, subject to conditions outlined in the [[ENRPRO_URL]] and receiving approval from the Program Director or their nominee.
Readmission
At the end of the period of leave of absence the student is required to re--enrol in the program. If the student fails to enrol by the due date, the student's enrolment in the program will be terminated.
Work-integrated learning activities (professional placements) integrate theoretical learning with its application in the workplace. The inclusion of work-integrated learning activities in the degree program demonstrates Griffith's commitment to preparing its graduates for success in their working life.
In this program, you will spend time in a variety of clinical situations undertaking unpaid placements at various locations. This will occur throughout each year with the ambulance placements occurring in Trimester 3 of Year 1, Year 2, and Trimester 1 of Year 3.
Compulsory clinical placements begin in Year 1 and are included in all three years of the program. Students must be available for these placements as they are a requirement of the program.
Ambulance placements will be four weeks full-time in Years 1 and 2 and six weeks in Year 3.
Total work placements: 600 hours (on average).
The ambulance placements encompass shift work that could include day, afternoon, night and weekend shifts. Students must complete all of the mandatory requirements, as outlined on the Health Placement Support Hub Paramedicine website, in order to continue in the program. Students who do not fulfill these mandatory requirements will be required to exit the program and/or transfer to an alternative program.
Graduates of this degree will be able to apply for employment as a graduate level paramedic within Australia (following registration) and a number of other countries. Other careers areas may also include the military, mining and other commercial paramedic opportunities.
The Bachelor of Paramedicine program is approved by the Paramedicine Board of Australia and accredited by the Paramedicine Accreditation Committee.
Graduates of the Bachelor of Paramedicine program will be eligible to apply for registration as a Paramedic with the Paramedicine Board of Australia via the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (Ahpra) subject to meeting any additional requirements that may be stipulated by the Paramedicine Board of Australia. As these requirements may change from time to time, students should contact Ahpra to confirm registration requirements.
Graduates will also be eligible to become a member of the Australasian College of Paramedicine and/or the Australasian College of Paramedic Practitioners.

You will receive excellent training for entry into the Doctor of Medicine (5099). You will develop knowledge and skills in paramedicine and clinical sciences and understand how they can be applied to medicine, research and healthcare services.

If an International student changes to a different program they will be subject to the approved program fee for the trimester in which they are enrolled.
If an undergraduate student obtains permanent resident status in Australia after commencing study in a program, and the student can provide evidence of permanent resident status prior to the census date (of the trimester in which they are enrolled), the student will be provided with a domestic fee-paying place.
The student may then apply for a Commonwealth supported place at the next admission period provided that the student satisfies the conditions for transfer from a domestic fee-paying place to a Commonwealth supported place as set out in the Fees and Charges Procedure.
If a postgraduate student obtains permanent resident status in Australia after commencing study in a program, and the student can provide evidence of permanent resident status prior to the census date (of the trimester in which they are enrolled), the student will automatically be considered for a Commonwealth supported place (subject to availability) or a domestic fee-paying place as applicable for the program.
If a research student obtains permanent resident status in Australia after commencing study in a program, and the student can provide evidence of permanent resident status prior to the census date (of the trimester in which they are enrolled), the student will automatically be considered for a Commonwealth Government Research Training Program (RTP) Fee Offset or a domestic fee-paying place as applicable for the program.
Throughout your program you may be required to pay for the following items:
Queensland Ambulance Service Medical Assessment, Australian Federal Police Check, immunisations; uniforms; face mask fit test (yearly), expenses associated with placements such as travel and accommodation.
