This program is scheduled to commence in Trimester 1, 2025.
This double degree combines criminology and criminal justice practices in addressing crime and its causes, as well as in-demand business skills incorporating adaptivity, creativity, diversity and sustainable business practices.
From first year onwards you'll be given practical skills to increase your employability through internships, mentoring, and workshops, and in your second and third years you'll choose a business major and narrow your focus into a key area of criminology and criminal justice, based on your interests and desired career.
You'll develop valuable analytical skills, honing your ability to assess market trends, formulate effective business strategies, and navigate the complexities of the corporate world. At the same time, you'll learn about the current trends in crime in Australia and overseas. Academic and professional experts will explain proven ways that crime can be examined, prevented and reduced. You'll participate in courses that include the police, courts and criminal law, forensic psychology and homicide.
Both your business and criminology skills will be founded in principles to ensure you have a positive impact on communities and the environment, locally or globally, both for now and into the future.
GRADUATE OUTCOMES
You'll emerge with a versatile skill set and a unique understanding of both business and criminology, positioning you with diverse career opportunities. Whether pursuing roles in criminology, corporate governance, business ethics, risk management, law enforcement, or policy analysis, you'll be equipped to contribute effectively to private organisations and governments seeking to address complex challenges. With a solid foundation in both disciplines, you'll be well-prepared to navigate the evolving landscape of business and criminal justice, making a meaningful contribution to society.
If you are an International student on a student visa, you must ensure that you enrol in a way that will allow you to complete your enrolment within the expected program duration as stated on your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).
This degree is offered full-time at the Nathan/Mt Gravatt and Gold Coast campuses. Some courses are also available online. You may choose to study courses at other campuses where the program structure allows.
As a full-time student, you will generally attend 12-15 hours of scheduled classes per week throughout the trimester.
Classes may be scheduled during the day and evening throughout the week.
Taking a leave of absence from this program is permitted, subject to conditions outlined in the Enrolment Procedure
This double degree gives you the skills to thrive in a wide range of industries and organisations and with a mix of work-integrated programs and professional practice, you'll be prepared to work in not-for-profit, government and corporate organisations as well as start-ups and entrepreneurial enterprises with your highly transferable skills.
Whether you want to be involved in public administration and safety, policing and security, child protection, social and mental health services or research organisations, you'll graduate with the skills and knowledge to make your mark with employers or forge your own path.
