About this program
The aim of the Graduate Certificate in University Learning and Teaching is to enable you to be an effective and successful University educator, particularly with regards to contemporary issues in Higher Education. This Graduate Certificate program will support you in the development of learning and teaching capabilities that lead to transformation of your practice.
All courses in the program are practice-based and explore contemporary ideas, research and pedagogies in university learning and teaching. The courses provide opportunity to explore contemporary issues within your specific context, and engage in the scholarship of learning and teaching. You will design and deliver a project that you will disseminate to colleagues in a genre that ensures maximum impact.
As a graduate, you will be well placed to contribute to the scholarship of teaching and learning in your School, the University and your discipline.
The program consists of 2 prerequisite self paced courses (TFL and CDL) and 2 core courses: Contemporary Issues in Higher Education Course 1 and Course 2.
The two prerequisites required to enter the GCULT program are Teaching for Learning program (TFL) equivalent to 10CP, and Curriculum Design for Learning Program (CDL) equivalent to 10CP.

Once you have completed these two courses, you can then apply to enter the GCULT program and enrol in 7035LFC and 7036LFC to complete the program.
If you have previously completed either TFL or CDL and have completed the assessment (to gain your AFHEA) then you will be able to use this as 20CP of Advanced Standing to enter the GCULT program.. This program is directed primarily at people who are already working in higher education, either in a teaching role, or in educational, administrative, or technical roles that support teaching and learning.
Graduates may be more competitive in applications for University positions and may strengthen their cases for confirmation or promotion.

- Students are liable for tuition fees for the courses they are enrolled in as at the census date.
- The tuition fee for students who commence their program prior to 2014 is charged according to the approved program fee for the trimester in which the student commenced the program.
- The tuition fee for students who commence their program from 2014 onwards is charged according to the approved program fee for the trimester in which the student is enrolled.
